Join the 101 Legal Ways Community

101 Legal Ways is a public interest education site on Canadian law and the education system. Join the community to take part in the discussion, and, if you work in a regulated occupation, to write community blogs and articles. Joining is free and open to people in every country.

Two ways to take part

Commenter

Join the discussion

  • Comment on articles and community blogs.
  • Open to anyone aged 18 or over (or the age of majority where you live).
  • Comments are checked before they appear.
Writer

Write blogs and articles

  • Everything a commenter can do, plus write community blogs and articles.
  • For people associated with a regulatory occupation or profession, in any country: a licensed or registered member, a licensing candidate, a student in a program leading to that occupation, or staff working under a licensed member.
  • Every post is checked before it is published.

The policy at a glance

Who can join

  1. You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live if that is higher.
  2. Give your full name and an email address you can confirm. Writers must give their legal name. Your username, shown on the site, can be any name that follows this policy.
  3. One account per person. We check for duplicate email addresses and names.
  4. Writers tell us their occupation and its regulatory body. A registration or licence number is optional. 101 Legal Ways may ask for proof of your association with the occupation at any time, and may change or remove writer access if proof is not provided.

Ground rules for everything you post

  1. General information only. Do not give legal advice on anyone’s specific case. You may share your own experience.
  2. No promotion. Do not use posts or comments to promote yourself, your practice, your business, a product or a service. Advertising is only accepted under our Advertising Policy.
  3. Protect privacy. Do not post personal information about anyone, including yourself: names of private people, addresses, phone numbers, file or case numbers, identity or immigration numbers, or documents.
  4. Be accurate. Articles must link to at least one official source. Mark opinions as opinions.
  5. Be respectful. No hate, harassment, discrimination, threats, personal attacks or sexually explicit content.
  6. Be honest about who you are. Do not claim a title or licence you do not hold, and do not impersonate anyone.
  7. Original and lawful content only. If you use writing tools, you are responsible for every fact.

Breaking the rules can lead to content being removed, a warning, or the account being suspended. Read the full Community and Content Policy, our Terms and Disclaimer and our Privacy Policy before you join.

How to join

  1. Read the policy above and the full Community and Content Policy.
  2. Choose Commenter or Writer in the form below.
  3. Fill in the form. Writers add their occupation, regulatory body and how they are connected to it.
  4. Confirm your email. We send a one-time link from support@101legalways.com. Your request is only reviewed after you confirm.
  5. Wait for the decision. Most requests are decided within minutes; some need a short manual check.
  6. Set your password using the link in the welcome email, then sign in.

We only use what you send in this form to review your request and run your account. See our Privacy Policy.

Commenting

Sign in, open any article or community blog and use the comment box at the bottom. Comments are checked automatically; most appear within the hour. Comments that may break the rules wait for a moderator.

Writing

In your dashboard go to Posts, Add New. For a blog, choose the category Community Blog; for an article, choose a topic and link to at least one official source. Click Submit for Review. Clean blogs are published after the check; articles are reviewed by 101 Legal Ways before they appear.

101 Legal Ways shares general information only. It is not legal advice and does not create a client relationship. Questions: support@101legalways.com.
