Privacy Policy

Effective Date: June 2026

Last updated: October 13, 2026

At 101legalways.com, your privacy is critically important to us. This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, and protect your personal information in compliance with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

Information We Collect

  • Voluntary Information: We may collect personal information such as your name and email address when you voluntarily subscribe to our newsletter, leave a comment, or contact us.
  • Automated Information: Like most standard WordPress websites, we use cookies and tracking technologies (like Google Analytics) to collect non-identifying information, such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages you visit.

How We Use Your Information

  • To operate and maintain our website (hosted via HostPapa).
  • To send you newsletters and updates, provided you have opted in.
  • To respond to your inquiries and moderate comments.
  • To analyze website traffic and improve our content.

Community Membership (Commenters and Writers)

When you ask to join our community on the Join page, we collect your full name, email address, username, the topics you are interested in and, if you choose, why you want to join. Writers must give their legal name. Writers also tell us their occupation or profession, its regulatory body, how they are connected to it and, if they choose, a registration or licence number. We also record the confirmations you tick on the form.

We use this information to confirm your email address, check for duplicate accounts, decide your request under our Community and Content Policy, create and manage your account, and contact you about your membership, posts and comments. Your username is shown on the site with your posts and comments. Your email address, legal name, occupation details and registration number are not shown publicly.

Proof of Association

We may ask a writer for proof of their association with the occupation they named. If you send proof, we use it only to confirm your association, and we record that it was received.

Screening of Requests, Comments and Posts

Join requests, comments and posts are first checked automatically against our Community and Content Policy. Clear cases may be approved or declined automatically; anything unclear is reviewed by our support staff or admin. If you disagree with a decision, write to support@101legalways.com and we will review it again.

Live Chat and Visitor Monitoring

Our website uses a live chat and visitor monitoring service. It may record the pages you visit, your browser type and your approximate location based on your IP address, so that we can offer help through live chat. If you use the chat, the messages you send are kept by the service so we can reply.

How Long We Keep Membership Information

We keep membership information while your account is active and as long as needed afterwards to keep the community safe, for example to prevent duplicate or removed accounts from rejoining. To close your account or ask us to delete your information, write to support@101legalways.com.

Sharing Your Information

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share generic aggregated demographic information not linked to any personal identification with our business partners and trusted affiliates.

Your Rights

You have the right to access, update, or delete your personal information at any time. You may also unsubscribe from our communications using the link provided in our emails. For any privacy-related requests, please contact us at support@101legalways.com.
